For our newest Alfa member interview, we sat down with Maxi Ebert from Munich, Germany. We talked about what it was like gaining working experience in his father’s business, starting a new e-commerce branch and the importance of finding your niche as a freight forwarder.

How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?

As my father was the founder of our company and already ran the company since more than 20 years when I started, my future was pretty much predicted already. I started as a trainee in the company when I was 17 years old and ran through all the departments in the company and finally ended up as a sales and business development person.

In my earlier twenties, I had the idea of starting the e-commerce business within the company. I took the advantage of our in house IT department and adapted our systems to the needs of e-commerce business and established a whole new service within our company. Since the end of 2021, I also became shareholder and Managing Director.

If there is one thing that you could change to the logistics industry, what would it be and why?

One major change I’d aim for in the logistics industry is enhancing sustainability across the entire supply chain. Optimizing transport ways and processes by using modern technologies. I think there is room for improvement in almost any process.

How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?

We have always tried to find our niche in the marketing by offering things not everyone else does. Nowadays I would say we can provide solutions for almost all logistical challenges out of one hand. We are always trying to be innovative and ahead of the game.

What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?

I personally like challenges and variety, which more or less describe the logistics industry I think. I’m a fan of finding solutions for problems and develop new processes in order to simplify workflows.  I also like to network with people all over the world and have an influence on a global scale with what we do as a group.

What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?

For me the Alfa Group is the perfect network for qualified business cooperations. With its decent size, it is small enough to maintain high quality members with a personal contact, but still big enough to have a variety of agents available in almost every part of the world in order to find what our business requests might require.

How do you relax in your free time?

I’m a big fan of cycling, so I spend as much time as possible on my road bike cycling through the alps. This helps me to focus on new ideas and be creative.
