In our latest ‘Inside Alfa’ interview, Vicken Mouradian from Beirut, Lebanon talked to us about the challenges of working from home and the financial crisis caused by the pandemic.

How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?

After being graduated from school, I decided to go into a major which was still not very common in my country. Knowing that Logistics is the backbone of huge businesses worldwide, decided to go into that experience which I believe was successful so far. During 20+ years , I worked for many international companies like DHL Global Forwarding, Schenker, Kuehne + Nagel and currently I’m very excited to work for my company.

How did you experience the COVID-19 pandemic and how did you adapt your daily operations?

Working from home was a new experience for most of us .We discovered that it is not a matter of being at office on time, or staying after working hours or working overtime . It is all about completing tasks the way they should be done, no matter where and when. On the other hand , the international financial crisis and covid-19 affected is still affecting our business negatively. But it is good to see that we started to recover slowly.

If there is one thing that you would want to change to the logistics industry? What would it be and why?

As the world is more and more attached to technology now, I believe that replacing regular vehicles by autonomous vehicles will lead to safer environment with less road accidents and losses of life. What do you do to relax in your spare time?

Sometimes I like to go for a nice seafront walk. When staying home, some Netflix or reading will work. On other times, some cruising towards the mountains relaxes me.

What are your company’s goals for the next 5 years?

Our first goal is to become a one-stop shop for all its customers. Our bigger goal for the next couple of years is to expand in our region and in Europe.
