The 11,850 TEU container vessel Ever Forward has run aground in the Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, US bringing back memories of Ever Given’s accident in the Suez Canal, which caused global supply chain disruptions for around a week in March 2021.

Almost one year later, another boxship operated by the Taiwanese carrier Evergreen has suffered a similar incident. However, the situation seems better this time. Although the 2020-built container ship remains stuck from 13 March in the Chesapeake Bay, there are no reports of injuries, pollution, damages, or traffic disruption.

Ever Forward departed the Port of Baltimore on Sunday (13 March) night destined to Norfolk, Virginia, when it ran aground outside the main shipping channel.

A team of experts is working with divers to inspect the ship for damage and find the best way to refloat it, according to announcements from Evergreen and the Maryland Port Administration.
